With more than 40 years of combined experience in the areas of financial planning, law, research, and writing, Charlie serves as a valuable resource for The Kelly Group in its mission to help steward clients, families, and the community toward a more successful financial future.
Charlie is past president of the Financial Planning Association of Maryland and a member of the Maryland bar since 1982. He holds several degrees and certifications, including a Certified Financial Planner (CFP™) professional certification, a JD from Vanderbilt University Law School, an LLM in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation and a Chartered Federal Employee Benefits Consultant (ChFEBC℠) designation. A former journalist with an MS in journalism from the University of Maryland, Charlie has written for distinguished publications such as the Congressional Quarterly, Baltimore Sun and Baltimore Business Journal.
Charlie serves as board president of The Greater Kingsville Civic Association and has been elected to serve on the board of the Harford Historical Society. He has taught financial planning courses at Towson University, and teaches continuing education courses on financial matters, including Medicare, at Harford Community College.
